Jennifer L. Bekkerman is of counsel to Taxman, Pollock, Murray & Bekkerman, LLC. She joined the firm after five years of practicing complex commercial litigation defense at Winston & Strawn LLP, a Chicago-based international law firm. Jennifer’s prior practice focused on trial work in state, federal, and multi-district litigation cases concerning product liability, antitrust, federal regulatory compliance, and white-collar criminal defense matters.

During her time at Winston & Strawn, Jennifer obtained extensive trial experience in high-profile national litigation cases. Her trial experience and her passion for representing brave individuals who suffered harm at the expense of large corporations, helped form her decision to leave her defense practice to join our firm where she could continue to work helping individuals and their families. Jennifer provides a unique skill set due to her extensive experience submitting briefs and motions in state and federal cases on behalf of defendants and presenting medical experts in complex injury cases.

Jennifer’s trial-focus began in law school. As an intern at the United States Attorney’s Office in the Northern District of Illinois under Patrick Fitzgerald, she participated in her first trial successfully prosecuting a bank robbery. In law school, Jennifer was also selected to receive the Philip H. Corboy Fellowship in Trial Advocacy. As a part of this nationally competitive trial team, Jennifer was the Regional Champion and National Quarter-Finalist in 2009.

Jennifer was also honored to serve as an Extern for the Honorable Judge Virginia Kendall in the Northern District of Illinois federal court and as a research assistant to the Honorable Judge Thomas Donnelly in the Circuit Court of Cook County. These positions provided Jennifer with a unique perspective regarding judicial practice and procedure in both the federal and state courts.

Jennifer is licensed to practice in Illinois. She supports a number of charities, including previously serving on the Junior Board of the Children’s Research Fund to support pediatric medical research being conducted at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago and the Stanley Manne Children’s Research Institute.

Jennifer was born and raised in central Illinois and now makes her home in Chicago with her husband Gerald Bekkerman and their son. In her free time, Jennifer enjoys spending time with her family at any of Chicago’s beautiful parks or museums, attending theatre and music shows, and enjoying the many incredible restaurants in the city.
